History and Mission

Mission Statement

To render service to Tri-City Medical Center, its patients and staff, and to assist the Medical Center in promoting the health and well-being of the community.

History

Formed in 1958, the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary is a volunteer-managed non-profit corporation dedicated to serving the patients, staff, and visitors at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, California.

From its initial group of four doctor’s wives in 1958, the Auxiliary has grown to over 450 dedicated individuals ranging in age from 15 to 95 years old. These caring volunteers annually donate a cumulative total of about 63,000 hours, serving in over 20 departments throughout Tri-City Medical Center.

Thanks to its highly successful non-profit gift shop and several annual fundraising events, the Auxiliary makes a significant financial contribution to the Medical Center each year. In 2019 the Auxiliary funding donated equipment valued at over $70,000 for use in the Emergency Room, Operating Theater and Intensive Care Unit.

Established in 1973, the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship program awards significant financial support to individuals attending local colleges and universities, almost all focusing on health-related careers. In 2019 this program awarded $75,000 to 90 individuals. Over this program’s 35 years of service, it has awarded scholarship funding in excess of $1 million to deserving students in the North San Diego County region.
