Make a difference in the lives of others as you explore possible health care career opportunities. As a High School Volunteer, you are an important part of Tri-City Hospital by volunteering your time and service to patients and their family and friends. To become a High School Volunteer, you must:
- Be a High School student age 15 through 18
- Participation must begin prior to the start of 12th grade
- Attend a scheduled Orientation with parent or legal guardian
- Successfully pass TB tests provided by the hospital at no charge
- Accept the annual flu shot, also provided by the hospital at no charge
- Make a one-year minimum commitment to volunteer at least six hours per month
- Maintain regular good attendance
- Court-ordered community service is not permitted
High School Volunteers make the following financial commitments:
- Membership Fee of $10
- Purchase of uniform – $20
Becoming a High School Volunteer
- The online application will open in the link below when openings are available.
- Program size is limited and fills up quickly.
- If the link is not accepting applications there are no openings available or it is prior to the application opening date. Please consider the next application to reapply.
- All applicants will be notified by email if they have been accepted into the program. Due to limited space, not all applications will be accepted. All can reapply for future High School Orientations. Refer to the website for future volunteer application periods.
- Selected students and a parent (or legal guardian) MUST (no exceptions) attend an orientation together.
- At the orientation, training in hospital procedures, volunteer requirements, potential work assignments will be addressed
- Applicants may also come in person, within the application dates, to drop off a printed completed Application to the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary Office, 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92056.
Attendance Policy (Please read carefully)
The mission of the Tri-City Auxiliary is to provide excellent care and service to our patients and their families. To meet this mandate our Volunteers must maintain consistent attendance. We recognize that absences occur due to illness, family matters and holidays. However, our program is not able to accommodate extended absences.
Program Restrictions
Please note that the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary High School Volunteer Program DOES NOT offer summer, short-term, episodic, hands-on patient care, shadowing, internship, or observation opportunities. We also do not offer court-ordered community service or provide hands-on patient care.
